Languages (LOTE)

Languages at Cedar Ridge are also known as LOTE, which stands for Languages Other Than English. Here are this site's language recommendations:

1. Spanish

Spanish is a good language to take, especially if you are staying in Texas. Since many people speak Spanish it can a useful skill and can help with job opportunities. The Spanish teacher for Adv. Spanish III and IV is very good and this site would recommend taking all four years of Spanish if you can since it will look good on college applications

2. German

German is a great language to take! German students have access to more competitions than the other languages, but the size of the program is small.

3. French

French is also a great language to take! It's a fun class that isn't too hard. If you took French in middle school, this site would recommend taking all four years of French.

4. Chinese

Chinese is a great language to take if you already speak it at home. If you do, it is easy to have a 100, but if you do not, this site would recommend not taking the class, for Chinese is a tonal language with a completely different alphabet, making it much harder to learn and putting you behind other langugae learners with the same amount of years learning.

5. Korean

This site doesn't have much information about Korean at Cedar Ridge. Add more at abhiram.donepudi@gmail.com.
