Languages (LOTE)

Languages at Westwood are also known as LOTE, which stands for languages other than english. Here are this site's language recommendations:

1. German

German is a great language to take! There's only one teacher and Grisham students get to skip level 1. Addtionally, German students have access to more competitions than the other language programs at Westwood. However, if you took a language at Canyon Vista I would recommend sticking with it unless you want to try another. If you did not take a language in middle school, German is this site's pick for you!

2. French

French is also a great language to take! It's a fun class that isn't too hard. It is this site's recommendation for Canyon Vista students, for you can skip 2 levels of it.

3. Chinese

Chinese is a great language to take if you already speak it at home. If you do, it is easy to have a 100, but if you do not, this site would recommend not taking the class, for Chinese is a tonal language with a completely different alphabet, making it much harder to learn and putting you behind other langugae learners with the same amount of years learning.

4. Spanish

Spanish is not that great of a language to take. The teachers you can have are variable, with some good and some bad. Additionally, there are a large amount of students who speak Spanish at home, so it cna be hard to get a good grade. Students regularly fail quizzes.
