Social Studies

Students entering in the 2025-2026 school year and beyond may be required to take Personal Financial Literacy

There's very few social studies courses at Westwood, with 2 clearly defined pathways (remember: don't take on-level and take TAG when possible). Students wishing to take additional history courses can take AP Psychology (which involves a lot of vocabulary and common sense, as some students say) or AP African American Studies.

Non-IB:

  1. AP Human Geography (Known as HuGS.)
  2. AP World History (Commonly skipped. Known as WHAP.)
  3. AP US History (Commonly skipped and sometimes replaced with AP Psychology. Known as APUSH.)
  4. AP Government and AP Macroeconomics (Both are semester-lo courses and referred to as AP Gov & Econ.)

IB:

  1. AP Human Geography
  2. IB-Prep US History (Known as IBUSH)/APUSH
  3. History I IB
  4. History II IB
